"The Dark Gift" Newsletter and Club is Looking for new Members who would like to taste the Blood of "The Dark Gift" Newsletter.  We have been Advertised in "The World of Dark Shadows" and Been Mentioned by "Shadow Gram".  I keep in contact as much as I can with both Editors.  If you would like Info on them I can give you the Links.  Anyhow, "The Dark Gift" has been going thorugh changes New Look and Layout with the Newsletter.  And Added Lists with The Sims Vampires List ask "Right Fang Gal" or your Mistress of the Night about it. New looks with new Info and such hope to hear from my Fledlgings with new Fan Fictions and Drawings that can be added into the Newsletter and Site.  Please Let others of the Night know and maybe this Fan Club can grow so big I will have to hire Fledlgings to help run it. Anyhow, If you would like a Sample they are Available always will be if you are not feeling right about giving out your Address we can find a way via the Internet to give you a glimce of how the Newsletter looks.....

Yes, I have a List on the internet as well. It started with the Movie "Interview with the Vampire" where I had got the name from. In 1993 I started to think about having a Fan Club So I started Eighteen years (in August) ago with the List then I got involved with the Newsletter. And for a while we have tried over and over to have a web site. Each time we tried then try to update it the link would not work for some reason. Plus I have had computer trouble my self. But enough of the Business..........On to the Vampires Go to the Links Page and you can sign up for the List if you are not already. Lestat loves Louis because he's kind and loving and gentle, but mostly because he's beautiful, and Lestat loves beautiful people, he is a vain son of a bitch. Louis amuses Lestat with his condemns "you are a perfect devil". And he's company, Lestat needed company, he hates to be alone, and thinking about it, Lestat is never alone for very long. And as Louis says, Lestat loves luxurious things, and so I think Lestat may have used Louis for his money as well.

Louis loves Lestat, he is drawn to him for authority. Louis is not a decisive person, and would (and does) if he could just lay around his house in his own despair . Lestat gives him instructions and tells him where to go, and Louis needs this. Think about, he goes from Lestat to Claudia to Armand, and all of these have a strong will, and gave Louis instruction and a purpose. And after that when he was on his own, all he did was wallow in his own sorrow.
Quite obviously, Lestat is charismatic and this also drew Louis to him. And he pulled Louis out of his morning for his brother, and his guilt. Lestat was always good to Louis, although they argued and he mocked Louis, he never left Louis, he never abandoned him, and Lestat always held a special place for Louis in his heart.

Does lestat really love Louis?

 

Yes!! Sure he does. It is literally revealed in the books in so many phrases. For one Lestat says "I fell fatally in love with him" and from time to time talks about Louis as his lover - but whether this is a romantic nature or not, is not been made official in the books, in the narrating. You can fall in love with anyone and anything in any nature and passion is just the strength and depth of it - it doesn't determin the nature. And the term "lover" has been used in very basic means in The Vampire Chronicles: In "Blood and Gold", Marius refers to Lestat as his lover, once. Yet they never had and don't have a romantic nor sexual relationship but are a mentor and student, father and son and close friends. And according to Anne Rice when it comes to Lestat and Marius; "They could never be called lovers." Yet she wrote Marius refer to Lestat as such - so it must be for love as love. You love a person and they love you back - you are basically lovers.

Which, the open-for-interpretion type of description of Lestat and Louis, is why many imagine them as romantic lovers whereas many imagine them as just close friends. It is likely, that in Anne Rice's image they're both. However Anne Rice herself has chosen to only use the words "Lestat and Louis have a love-hate relationship." For other examples of Lestat's love for Louis; in The Tale of the Body Thief he says "I would never deny you anything", when he talks to Louis in his thoughts, and to the reader he tells "...whether he knew about my love for him and that wretched, angry chíld." The last mentioned of course refering to Claudia.
So yes, Lestat certainly really loves Louis, but what nature of love it is, is left up to the reader.
